Break out the tinfoil hats, its Fundagelical prophecy time again. This time around it’s David Montaigne a self-proclaimed historian and prophecy expert. He has authored several prophecy books including Notrodamus World War III 2002 in which he predicted WWIII should start in late 2002. He also published The Two Witnesses of Revelation: Will Moses and Elijah Return in 2016? I’ll save you the price of the book and answer the question: NO. In his book Antichrist 2016, he predicted the rise of the Antichrist Barack Obama. Currently, he is hawking two books: End Times and 2019 and Pole Shift Evidence Will Not Be Silenced. In these books, he predicts the end of the world for December 28, 2019, when the earth’s magnetic poles will shift and cause apocalyptical chaos and destruction.
Interestingly enough, on his Amazon page, he continues to sell the books with his missed predictions. He now includes in the description of the books a disclaimer. He admits he didn’t get his dates right but that his books still offer good information and that people shouldn’t lose faith in him.
His claim that the magnetic pole shift will cause the end of the world has been debunked by NASA on their website. According to NASA,
The science shows that magnetic pole reversal is – in terms of geologic time scales – a common occurrence that happens gradually over millennia. While the conditions that cause polarity reversals are not entirely predictable – the North Pole’s movement could subtly change direction, for instance – there is nothing in the millions of years of geologic record to suggest that any of the 2012 doomsday scenarios connected to a pole reversal should be taken seriously. A reversal might, however, be good business for magnetic compass manufacturers.
Let’s face it, shifts happen. After a pole shift, the world just keeps spinning.
However, prophecy nuts don’t let facts get in the way. Montaigne suggests in his other book that deliberate attempts are being made to discredit him. On his blog site, he asks, “Are my books being discredited because I’m on to something?” That, of course, is the classic twisted logic of a conspiracy theorist. It’s all a cover-up by Satanist, scientist, and the Illuminati! The fact they try to discredit me is proof that I’m on to something. In the blog post, he wonders if maybe his books are being discredited because sometimes he’s wrong. Do you think?
As a historian and prophecy expert, he should have been able to predict this reaction. Historically, people who keep making-up doomsday dates are ridiculed. Prophetically, the Bible says “If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.” (Deuteronomy 18:22)
As I’ve said before, Fundagelicals use fears to motivate people. End time prophecies promote fear to motivate you to buy their book or video or special priced book and video combo pack. What’s worse is that people buy into this nonsense and act irrationally. Lives have been ruined as entire families sell off and giveaway their possession. False prophets like Montaigne cause real damage.
Here is The Rogue Fundagelical’s quick prophecy prediction test. If the prophet still has money, a job, a bank account, a home, or other property after the predicted doomsday date; then they didn’t buy into the prophecy themselves, and it means they are either nut jobs or cons. Why didn’t they party away their fortune or give it all away to help people in the short term? They won’t need it after the world ends. And yet, they keep their bank accounts because they know there is another prediction, another book, another video to sell and they need that bank account to keep cashing those sweet, sweet checks. Notice how the books aren’t free? Even the wrong ones past their expiration date still have a price tag.
Here’s The Rogue Fundagelical’s prediction for December 28, 2019 – – – I bet it will become December 29, 2019. Just like last year. Let’s see who turns out to be right. I will, however, hedge my bet and not do the dishes that night just in case random chance finally catches up with the chorus of end-time prophets.
