If you don’t know who “Coach” Dave is, he became a Fundagelical superstar because he was fired from his Lakeview, Ohio High School football coaching job for forcing players to pray with him. (Violation of the Constitution anyone?) Since that time, he has turned his faux martyrdom into a popular religious podcast where he fires up his Fundagelical fanboys. He once commented on how soccer was a satanic plot designed to prevent fathers from talking football with their sons and thus destroy the nuclear family.
On August 26th, 2019, Coach Dave displayed an old Bible he had found. It was a Pronouncing Edition of the Bible printed in 1900. In that Bible there was a statistics chart that listed the population of Jews in the world at 7,500, 000. This number was all that Daubmire needed to go off on one of his frequent anti-Semitic rants.
“I’m not going to get into the depth about it because you are going to call me names, . . . In 1900, there were 7,500,000 in the world. This ain’t forged. Folks, 7,500,000 Jews in the world. Can somebody explain to me how six million of them died in Germany? That is all I am going to say. I’ll let you figure the rest out. . .Forty years later, six million of them died? In Germany? They were all in Germany and died in Germany? Uh oh, I’m making some of you nervous.”
1939, there were 16.6 million Jews worldwide, and a majority of them – 9.5 million, or 57% – lived in Europe, according to DellaPergola’s estimates. Daubenmire perpetuates the fallacy that if something is printed in A BIBLE! It must be true.
The table Daubmire shows is an estimate of religious groups. Dave apparently doesn’t know that being Jewish is both a religion and ethnicity. The estimate Daubmire is pointing out has to do with adherents to the Jewish faith and not the number of ethnic Jews.
Also, Dave, you lack of historical knowledge is appalling. During the Holocaust, Jews were killed not only in Germany, but also in Poland, Ukraine, and other Eastern European cities. The largest Death camp was Auschwitz located in Poland. Here Dave, here’s a link to the History channel so you can educate yourself.
Coach Dave joins a long list of Holocaust deniers trying to disprove the atrocity. He needs to justify his own anti-Semitism by claiming the Jews lied about what happened during WW II. This kind of conspiracy nuttery based on the flimsiest of “evidence” (Really! An old statistics chart guestimating the number of practicing Jews?) is the kind of stuff that leads to violence against a minority class of people.
Fascism and White supremacy are on the rise again. We must not forget history. Anytime one group seeks to exterminate another, is pure evil. The Armenian genocide, the Rwandan genocide, the Kurdish genocide, the Cambodian genocide, the Holocaust, are just a few of the atrocities perpetrated. So many genocides have been forgotten.
Here in the United States, we locked up Japanese Americans. Now we are planning on holding immigrants in concentration camps indefinitely. How soon we forget what we once repented over.
Coach Dave Daubenmire shows the schizophrenia of most Fundagelicals. They show unconditional support for the nation of Israel but hate the Jewish people. Daubenmire wants to re-write history with his conspiracy theory, and he hopes we forget. After the Holocaust, the slogan Never Forget was coined. It stands just as true today.
