Living in a post-truth world, you’ve just got to expect that conspiracy theories are going to multiply like a virus. While it seems people are self-isolating and staying home, the Fundagelicals are working overtime at the crazy, illogical, unfounded, conspiracy factory. Let’s see what we have going shall we?
Since no natural disaster, or man-made crisis can happen without someone blaming the gays, here’s who saying the LGBT+ community is responsible for the coronavirus.
“The Bible teaches homosexuals lose their souls and God destroys LGBT societies,” said pastor Steven Andrew of the USA Christian Church in a press release.
Rabbi Meir Mazuz, who promised that the virus would not affect Israel, blamed the continuing outbreak on pride parades. “This pride parade is a parade against nature, and anyone who does something against nature, the one who created nature takes revenge on him,” he said. “When you do things against nature, you place your hand in fire and pray that the fire doesn’t burn you? It burns you! Here they are doing against nature in impertinence: the pride parade. What are you proud of?”
The anti-Semite Rick Wiles of the ironically named TruNews said, ““Look at the spiritual rebellion that is in this country, the hatred of God, the hatred of the Bible, the hatred of righteousness,” Wiles said. “Just vile, disgusting people in this country now, transgendering little children, perverting them. Look at the rapes, and the sexual immorality, and the filth on our TVs and our movies.”
What kind of theology is this? Stop and think about how these supposed men of God are creating a twisted image of God the Father. God decides to kill a lot of straight people because he’s mad at gay people. That makes God a bit of a psychopath and a really bad aim at the whole smiting thing. Their twisted view of God is fear based. Turn to God now or he will keep killing people. They present God as an abusive father. Worship me or else!
You know what happens when a pair of conspiracy nuts read 8Chan? They cook up a conspiracy that includes Donald Trump. Mark Taylor the self-proclaimed “prophet” and Christopher McDonald “Seeking a job in Real Estate” know that the coronavirus isn’t real. It’s a hoax that Donald Trump is using so he can arrest the cabal of Satanic Pedophile Cannibals that secretly run this country. (Hey guys, the 1980’s called and they want the Satanic Panic conspiracy back.)
When Tom Hanks and his wife were diagnosed with coronavirus, QAnon took a deep swig of Kool-Aid and proclaimed that it was a way for Hanks to coverup his impending arrest as a Satanic Pedophile Cannibal.
There is a silver lining though, Lori Alexander,
who wrote The Power of a Transformed Wife, maintains the deadly disease is forcing women out of the workplace and back to home where they belong. You go you 1950s submissive housewife helpmate you. No seriously go. Stop blogging that nonsense
Let me throw my theory into the mix. If we look at the Old Testament Prophets, they often predicted war, disease, death and economic collapse for Israel and Judah because they had turned from God’s ways. Specifically, in corrupt courts (Injustice), oppressing the poor, and worshiping other “gods.” Please note no gays there. The prophets critiqued a corrupt society that allowed a privileged few to become rich and oppress everyone else. Sound familiar?
It is the perverted desires of oppressors to gain and keep power. Their desires drive wars and then profit off those same wars. They corrupt the court system to allow the privileged rich to commit crimes without punishment and to harshly punish the oppressed. They use fear to keep people in line. The oppression includes removing all the social safety nets. In the culture of the Middle East that the Old Testament was written in, the rich abdicated their God given responsibility to lift up their fellow man and share the resources God had given them. Instead they plotted and planned and stole from the poor.
It is the impoverishment of others that brings disaster on us. Overpopulated cities where the poor work three jobs to live in overcrowded housing run by rich slum Lords have no access to health care or proper nutrition. Is it any wonder they get sick? If they do get sick, the rich have bought the patents to necessary medicines and jacked up the prices.
The constant clamor for war sends money to the manufacturers of weapons. In 2018, the USA spent 648.8 billion dollars on the Military. A fraction of what other countries spend. The war in Afghanistan has been ongoing since 2001. Munitions manufacturers, and corporations have become rich with government contracts to sell weapons, food, and other supplies to our military.
The diseases, wars, deaths, and economic collapses are not punishments from an angry God, they are the natural results of oppression. God warned us that if we continue to oppress others, contrary to His ways, we would see these things happen. God’s judgement on such a society was to offer it a way out. Stop corrupting the courts, stop oppressing the poor, return to God’s ways before it is too late. These things can be avoided if we stop oppression and greed.
Of course the rich and powerful don’t want you to understand the Prophets, That’s why millionaire businessmen run the churches and say it was the Chinese and Koreans that did it. Keep pointing the finger at someone else.
