Bryan Ficher is the loony tunes conspiracy nut blathering on about faux persecution at the hands of deep state gay Muslims. Scott Lively and Paul Cameron concoct faulty, misleading, and fabricated science and history to slander the LGBT community. Tony Perkins has been successful in bringing his white supremacist, anti-LGBT, and anti-Muslim views into politics. However, Tim Wildmon is the behind the scenes organizer that enables Ficher, Lively, Cameron, Perkins, and a whole slew of wackadoodle Right Wing Fundagelical hatemongers to sell fear and hate to as wide an audience as possible.

Tim Wildmon is the President of the American Family Association. (AFA)

If you guessed that the AFA is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, then you are smarter than a homeschooled fifth grader. The AFA is also the cover group for One Million Moms, the political action group that can’t count and acts as the outrage machine for AFA.

According to the AFA, Tim Wildmon is “President of American Family Association and American Family Radio. AFA is a national organization that advocates for the biblical teaching on morality and values. Tim hosts a daily program on AFR’s 180+ stations.

He has appeared many times on all the major television networks including the Fox News Channel and CNN. He has written for USA Today, Focus on the Family and several other national publications.

Tim joined AFA in 1986. He has been married to his wife Alison since 1984, lives in Tupelo, Mississippi, and has three children and seven grandchildren. He is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in journalism.”

Of course, when AFA says they advocate for “The Biblical teaching on morality and values,” that is Fundagelical speak for “We advocate for our legalistic interpretation of the Old Testament and want to control and condemn your behavior while granting grace and forgiveness for ours.” It also means “Send us money!”

Wildmon solicits donations for his cause under the guise of fear. If he doesn’t stand up to the gay agenda, God will destroy the U.S.A. In his own words, in the AFA Journal, July/August 2014 “Our president [Obama] is promoting the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgendered and queer agenda like there is no tomorrow. God says homosexuality … should be repented of, not embraced and celebrated as a valid ‘alternative lifestyle’…. The Scripture shows us that God sometimes destroyed nations for their rebellion against his moral standards and their lack of repentance. It will happen to us as well if we continue down this path.”

When he isn’t raving about God destroying America because of gays, he is busy stereotyping and maligning Muslims. In his own words from his column in the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, March 4, 2012 “[Islam] is, in fact, a religion of war, violence, intolerance, and physical persecution of non-Muslims.”

Wildmon had hired Bryan Ficher as Director of Issue Analysis for Government until his inflammatory rhetoric got the AFA labeled as a hate group. Wildmon cleverly distanced himself by removing Ficher from the post but continued to carry his radio program. Wildmon also features a rogue’s gallery of the worst hatemongers as regular speakers on his own radio show called Today’s Issues.

Wildmon organized the political action groups One Million Moms and One Million Dads. You don’t hear much from the dads, but One Million Moms has a reputation for not only being ineffective but a bit of a joke. First, they don’t seem to be anywhere near a million of them. Statistics on how many moms belong to one million moms are hard to come by. Their Facebook group has less than 900,000 followers. I guess they round up to the nearest million. In one of their recent petitions, this time against a Disney XD episode of Star vs. the Forces of Evil which showed two boys kissing, they managed to gather 7,000 signatures. Their list of boycotts is long and includes boycotting J.C. Penny for hiring Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson and GEICO for showing Maxwell the pig riding in a car with a woman. Why were they upset with the GEICO commercial? They claimed it hinted at bestiality. Check it out for yourself.

Come on Tim, if you’re getting sexually turned on by Maxwell and some random mom in a car, you got some serious issues. May I suggest extensive counseling? May I also suggest that if you continue to manufacture outrage at the least plausible controversies that your nowhere-near-a-million-moms group is going to suffer from outrage fatigue.

Wildmon took over the AFA from his father, former Methodist minister, Don Wildmon. I label Tim a “Profit of Hate” for running a family business that pays him to promote a hateful agenda across a wide platform of radio stations, internet sites, social action committees, and smartphone apps. He’s another Christian earning a living appealing to the worst parts of our fallen nature to divide instead of uniting and earn a few bucks while doing it.
